It is with great sadness the family of Richard “Dick” Harold Sharpe, announces his passing on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at the age of 89 years.

Dick was born on April 20, 1930, in Boise, Idaho, and raised by his mother, Grace Sharpe, and his stepfather, Tenney Sharpe. After graduating from Boise High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the end of the Korean War where he received his flight training. He served for 5 years before returning to civilian life.

Dick met Jean Dundon in August of 1956 and married later that same year on Dec. 28, in Boise. Dick then began his 29-year career as a pilot for United Airlines in New Jersey. He and Jean had their three sons during their years of traveling to different locations, before moving to Black Diamond, Wash., area where they lived for 30 years. During that time Dick attended a Billy Graham crusade where he heard the word of God and became a Christian. He served in many different Christian ministries over the years with his wife, and has passed down a legacy of faith to his family.

After his beloved wife Jean passed away in 2006, Dick moved to Sagle, Idaho. He was active in the Sagle Senior Center and enjoyed building and improving his home, fishing, playing the banjo and guitar, and enjoying the various social events in the area.

Dick will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Steve (Kathy) Sharpe of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dave (Lisa) Sharpe of Mercer Island, Wash., and Mike (Shelley) Sharpe of Post Falls, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Kerrissa, Mirena, Kegan, Blake, Lydia, and Carmen; and four great-grandchildren, Gibson, Lyndie, Camden, and Lincoln. He will also be sadly missed by his extended family, his many friends, and jam session buddies he made over his years living in Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Jean.

Dick will be laid to rest next to his wife at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo, Wash. The service date to celebrate Dick’s life will be held on Nov. 23, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Sagle Senior Center, 650 Monarch Road, Sagle.
