BONNERS FERRY — There is a new restaurant opening in what used to be the Kootenai River Kitchen. The location will now house, Bonners Ferry Pupuseria.
“We will be serving authentic food from El Salvador and Americana comfort food,” said Jay James Carr, husband of Elva Zepeda, who is the owner and chef of the restaurant.
The restaurant is named after the primary showcased dish that will be served; the pupusa. A pupusa is a very popular Salvadorian food staple and is touted as the national dish of El Salvador. The dish includes a thick tortilla stuffed with various fillings like beef, beans and cheese, to name a few.
Other menu items on the Americano side include macaroni salad, soups, mashed potatoes, fresh fruit smoothies, and more.
Bonners Ferry Pupuseria will open its doors for culinary patrons on Nov. 15, and plans to have hours of 10 a.m. through 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Their address is 6428 Kootenai St., directly across from the U.S. Post Office downtown.
