Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene are both headed to the state 5A football playoffs.

They’ll meet Friday at Viking Field in Coeur d’Alene to determine the 5A Inland Empire League champion.

The winner earns a first-round bye, and a home game in two weeks in the quarterfinals.

The loser will play at home vs. an at-large team next week in the first round.

A playoff berth could also be on the line when Lake City hosts Lewiston on Friday.

In the 4A IEL, Lakeland can cause a three-way tie for the league title by beating Moscow at home on Friday. A win by Moscow would give the Bears the league title, also send Sandpoint to the playoffs, and end Lakeland’s season.

In the Intermountain League, Timberlake is heavily favored to beat Kellogg when the two teams meet for the league title Friday in Spirit Lake. Both teams have already qualified for the state 3A playoffs; Friday’s winner earns a first-round bye, and the loser will host a first-round game next week.

In the Central Idaho League, St. Maries can wrap up a state playoff berth with a win at Orofino.

In the North Star League, Lakeside can clinch its first state playoff berth since 2001 with a victory over Mullan-St. Regis in Mullan.

As far as the picks, Mark put in the right reliever against the right hitter and picked up a game on Jason, who now leads by five games. Mark went 5-0 on high school picks. Mark and Jason both went 1-2 on college picks, missing on Idaho pounding Idaho State and BYU stunning Boise State.

For the season, Jason is 33-12 on high school picks, 21-7 on college for a 54-19 total.

Mark is 32-13 on the preps, 17-11 on the collegians for a 49-24 total.

HIGH SCHOOL

All games Friday at 7 p.m. unless noted

Post Falls (6-2, 2-0 5A Inland Empire League) at Coeur d’Alene (6-2, 2-0)

NELKE: If it keeps raining this week, is it too late to set up some bleachers and a couple of goalposts on the artificial turf at The Fields at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls? Either way, this could be an offensive showcase.

Coeur d’Alene, 56-42

ELLIOTT: Coeur d’Alene seems to have fixed the issues that kept it from running past Lewiston a few weeks back. Post Falls won late at Lewiston last week.

Coeur d’Alene, 48-40

Lewiston (3-5, 0-2 5A IEL) at Lake City (3-5, 0-2)

NELKE: There’s still something to play for, but injuries seem to be piling up at Lake City.

Lewiston, 26-20

ELLIOTT: Lake City finds a way this week.

Lake City, 21-18

Moscow (4-3, 1-0 4A Inland Empire League) at Lakeland (2-6, 0-1)

NELKE: The Hawks are a good team that has had an up-and-down season. Will this week be “up” or “down”?

Moscow, 26-24

ELLIOTT: It’s either win or go home for the Hawks this week ...

Lakeland, 28-20

Kellogg (3-4, 2-0 Intermountain League) at Timberlake (7-0, 2-0)

NELKE: Timberlake has steamrolled through its first two league games. Kellogg might be able to put up some resistance, but ...

Timberlake, 48-6

ELLIOTT: Timberlake has been on a different level that its opponents all season.

Timberlake, 44-12

St. Maries (4-3, 0-1 Central Idaho League) at Orofino (1-6, 0-1)

NELKE: The Lumberjacks head into the playoffs on a big win.

St. Maries, 36-6

ELLIOTT: St. Maries, fresh from a bye week, gets past the Maniacs in this one.

St. Maries 34-14

Lakeside (5-0, 2-0 North Star League) vs. Mullan-St. Regis (5-2, 2-1) at Mullan

Friday, 3 p.m.

NELKE: Lakeside opened some eyes with a 38-6 win over the Tigers-Tigers five weeks ago. This week, the Knights are asked to “prove it.”

Lakeside, 34-32

ELLIOTT: If you’re a football fan and want to see a good 8-man football game, take a late lunch and head to John Drager Field. By Monday, your boss might forgive you.

Mullan-St. Regis, 32-30

COLLEGE

Washington State (4-3, 1-3 Pac-12) at Oregon (6-1, 4-0)

Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

NELKE: The Cougs have beaten the Ducks in each of the past four meetings, including two wins in Eugene. This is the Ducks’ chance at payback — if they don’t suffer a post-Huskies letdown.

Oregon, 35-31

ELLIOTT: Oregon remains on its path to a possible Rose Bowl bid ... The Cougars, meanwhile ....

Oregon, 48-31

Eastern Washington (3-4, 2-1 Big Sky) at Montana (5-2, 2-1)

Saturday, 11 a.m.

NELKE: The Eags have taken some lumps this year — but so have the Griz of late. And they might be without their starting quarterback.

EWU, 35-31

ELLIOTT: Eastern might have just a little bit more skill at quarterback in this one.

EWU, 38-35
