Halloween happenings piling up

It’s almost here — that sugar-fueled night when we don our masks and capes and galavant through the dark of night, in hot pursuit of treats (and hopefully not tricks) from neighbors and friends alike. Here’s a list of things happening here in Kootenai County celebrating everyone’s favorite spooky holiday.
Today
- Triple Play Trunk-or-Treat
5 p.m. | Triple Play Family Fun Park, 175 W. Orchard Ave., Hayden. Admission is one non-perishable food item to be donated to Community Action Partnership!
- Professional Pumpkin Carving Workshop
5:30 p.m. | Pilgrim’s Market, 1316 N. Fourth St. A carving master-instructor will demonstrate cutting edge techniques that will unlock your creativity and make your creations illuminate on Halloween night! The $30 registration fee includes a take-home fruit carving kit, carving guide, snacks and two glasses of wine. RSVP by emailing Jessica at demo@pilgrimsmarket.com.
- Spooky Kooky Monster Concert
6:30 p.m. | Community United Methodist Church, 1470 W. Hanley Ave. Join us for a spectacularly crazy event! Family friendly dress-up, painted faces (but no masks please), music, door-prizes and FUN! Come dressed in costume or come as you are! Bring a bag for trick-or-treating throughout the church. Invite your friends and neighbors! Free.
Saturday, Oct. 26
- Pumpkins and Pancakes
7 a.m. | Stoneridge Golf Community, 364 Stone Ridge Road, Blanchard. Bring your children to decorate a free pumpkin! $1 pancake breakfast for kids, $4 pancake breakfast for adults.
- Fall Fest and Apple Palooza
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Downtown Coeur d’Alene, Fifth Street and Sherman Avenue. The Downtown Association invites you to come shop the Harvest Farmers Market. There will be free hayrides, harvest produce, music, food and everyone’s favorite, the Apple Palooza apple tasting event throughout downtown. Pick up your maps and People’s Choice ballots at Fifth and Sherman.
- Trick-or-Treat for a Book
Noon to 1:30 p.m. | The Well-Read Moose Bookstore, 2048 N. Main St. Join us for story time and our annual Trick-or-Treat for a book! For children up to age 12. Free.
- Rathdrum Trunk-or-Treat
5-7 p.m. | Main Street. An opportunity for families to safely trick-or-treat out of the decorated trunks of parked cars. Trunk or Treat starts at 5 p.m.; vehicles will be set up between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. The best-decorated car judging will take place between 5:15 and 6:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 6:45. Only registered cars will be displayed on Main Street.
- Tour of the Haunted Kootenai County Jail Museum
5-7 p.m. | Kootenai County Jail Museum, 7940 W. Second St., Rathdrum. Presented by the Rathdrum Historical Society, enjoy trick-or-treating for the kids and take a tour of the museum. Donations are welcome.
- Second Annual Halloween Festival
5 - 9 p.m. | The Roosevelt Inn, 105 E. Wallace Ave. Enter your carved masterpiece into our jack-o-lantern contest! Come and play games, walk through our haunted forest, get your face painted and more! $5 admission. 12 and younger are free!
- Fifth Annual I-90 Autoplex Trunk-n-Treat
5:30 - 8 p.m. | I-90 Autoplex, 1800 E. Polston Ave. Post Falls. 20 acres of fun! This is the Inland NW largest trunk-n-treat. There will be lots of trunks full of candy and games, plus prizes, pumpkin decorating, costume contests, free hot cocoa, free hay rides and more. This event will encompass most of the 1-90 Autoplex. Pre-register online at Ticketleap.com to save time checking in. Admission is only 1 can of food per person for the Post Falls Food Bank. Please do not forget!
- Halloween Party
7:30 p.m. | Ponderosa Springs Golf Course at 1291 N. Galena Drive. Join the Coeur d’Alene Rotary on the Rocks Club as we throw one of the biggest Halloween parties. Join us for games, prizes, food and drinks! Appetizers are included in the price of each ticket as well as a dessert bar. Enjoy an open bar and a live DJ for the haunted dance floor. Events include: limbo contest, free photo booth, putting green, 50/50 raffle, appetizers, dessert bar, costume contest and games. Must be 21 or older. Tickets are $30 a person or $50 a couple and must be purchased in advance at Eventbrite.com
- Monster’s Ball Halloween Party
9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. | The Coeur d’Alene Resort, 115 S. Second St. This year the costumes are wilder, the drinks are tastier and the prizes are up for grabs at our annual spooky celebration at The Resort Plaza Shops! Featuring a cash-prize costume contest, a live DJ, no-host bars, beer pong, FunnyBooth Photo Booth, happy hour specials from the Taphouse Unchained and more!

- Halloween Story Time at the Carousel
10:30-11:30 a.m. | Coeur d’Alene Carousel, 439 W. Fort Ground Drive. Join us for a special Halloween story time at the Carousel. Games, activities, and a free book for every child. Be sure to dress up and take a picture with your favorite animal.
Oct. 30, 31, Nov. 1
- Neon Jungle
6 p.m. | Wired2Learn Academy, 1800 N. Highway 41, Post Falls. Ditch the fright this October. Come savor an immersive and engaging fall funhouse experience for the whole family! Under the aura of black lights explore a glowing jungle. Be transported to an underwater world and walk through space to touch the stars. At the end of the maze, there will be warm and comfy fall treats, like hot cocoa and caramel apples, Plus live music and face painting. All proceeds benefit Wired2Learn Foundation helping kids with learning disabilities. Early bird tickets available NOW! Only $5 per person.
Thursday, Oct. 31
- Trick-or-Treat the Museum
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center, 2678 W. Cessna Ave. Are you looking to Trick or Treat during the daytime with your child? Stop by the Bird Aviation Museum where our fantastic volunteers will be handing out Crayola Crayons, Playdoh, Rice Crispy Treats, Gold Fish, Reese’s Peanut butter Pumpkins, organic fruit gummies and more!
- Trick-or-Treat Downtown Coeur d’Alene
4-6 p.m. | Downtown Coeur d’Alene businesses (Sherman Ave.) Trick-or-Treating has never been so much fun! Safe, family fun from 4-6 p.m. Downtown Coeur d’Alene, throughout participating businesses. Plus, stop by 6th and Sherman for “Trunk-or-Treat” put on by 1st Presbyterian Church!
- Community Festival and Trunk-or-Treat
5:30-7:30 p.m. | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2293 W. Hanley Ave. There will be food and carnival games inside and Trunk-or-Treating outside with hot cocoa and hot apple cider.
- Free Halloween Family Fun at the Mall
5-7:30 p.m. | Silver Lake Mall, 200 W. Hanley Ave. Candlelight Christian Fellowship is once again partnering with the Silver Lake Mall to offer a fun and safe place to celebrate Halloween with plenty of games including ring toss, cake walk, miniature golf, fishing, obstacle course, bowling, cookie decorating, balloon shaping, face painting and a costume contest with prizes. - Third Annual Fright Night on Grants Court
5-9 p.m. | Private residence, 2106 N. Grants Court, Post Falls. A free neighborhood Halloween attraction. Anyone is welcome to trick or treat at this house — adults, grandparents and kids.
This year there will be a haunted house at the beginning, then walk through the ‘Hocus Pocus’ Graveyard into the Haunted Candy Tunnel. There is also an Instagram set up to share photos: @fright_night_grantsct.
