WEST SEATTLE — Sandpoint football wrapped up the regular season with a 56-6 thumping of Evergreen High School in Washington on Friday night.
Moscow also beat Lakeland to win the league title which means Sandpoint earns the second spot to state from the Inland Empire League and will head to Blackfoot next Friday for their opening game in the 4A tourney.
“We’re 0-0 now,” Sandpoint head coach Ryan Knowles said about state. “Our regular season is behind us, we’re going into the postseason now and its win and advance. It doesn’t matter how.”
Senior quarterback Jaxon Pettit threw six touchdowns in the first half and the Bulldogs defense held the Wolverines to just one first down in the first 24 minutes of action to take a 49-0 lead into halftime.
With about three minutes left in the first half, a running clock was issued as things were getting out of hand.
The Bulldogs (6-3) sat their starters in the second half as the backups played the rest of the game.
