Cards clinch playoff spot

COEUR d’ALENE — Taylor Foster had eight kills, Journey Tupea seven kills and 11 digs for North Idaho College in a 25-21, 25-14, 25-15 sweep of the Yakima Valley Yaks in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Christianson Gymnasium on Friday.

The win clinches a playoff spot for NIC (23-3, 12-0 NWAC), which leads the East Region by one game over Spokane with the teams scheduled to meet next Friday in Coeur d’Alene.

Lake City High product Chloe Knudson had seven kills and 10 digs, Kynzey Mitzel 10 digs, Post Falls High product Tessa Sarff 10 digs and Hokulea Vargas 29 assists and 10 digs for NIC, which travels to Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.

Yakima Valley is 6-26, 1-10.
