Oct. 29, 1969 – PROUDLY WE SALUTE

Radioman First Class Rodney R. Christian, USCG, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Christian, Hope, and husband of the former Miss Patricia Collins of Aberdeen, Wash., is serving at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station at Elizabeth City, N.C.

Army Warrant Officer Peter A. Henry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Henry, Mexico, Maine, has been assigned to the 4th Transportation Command in Vietnam, as a marine engineer.

His wife, Nancy, lives in Careywood, Idaho.

WAC Specialist Four Rhoda C. Hay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hay, Star Rte., Sandpoint, has been assigned as a stenographer in WAC Detachment Special Troops, U.S. Army, Vietnam.

GET-ACQUAINTED PARTY

Mrs. Gerald H. Lewis entertained with a get-acquainted coffee hour Thursday for 22 of her neighbors on Lignite and Bottle Bay roads.

4-H DOG CLUB SHOW

Bonner County’s 4-H dog club held its first show Sunday at the new fair building on North Boyer. About 50 persons were on hand. First place winner in handling was Monica Travers; second place, Carolyn Monroe; third, Kristie Brooks, Mike Travers and Cindy LaRock. First in fitting was Carolyn Monroe; second, Monica Travers; third, Kristie Brooks and Cindy LaRock.

MRS. HELPHREY RECEIVES WRIST WATCH

“For performance of duty in the face of difficulty, for meritorious service on the battle grounds of home,” the motor corps and the candy girls of the Sandpoint Red Cross chapter Saturday presented Mrs. Guy S. Helphrey, canteen team captain, with a beautiful Swiss movement wrist watch coupled with a circlet of engraved gold. The wrist watch was a complete surprise to Mrs. Helphrey.

The tea at which the watch was given marked the disbanding of the organization after over a year of faithful devotion to self-imposed duty.

“RUGGIE” SUND MARRIED

Announcement has been made in Sandpoint that Miss Rugna Sund, formerly of this city, and Sherman W. Reynolds of Portland, Ore., were married at Seattle Oct. 4. The bride is a popular Sandpoint young woman who enlisted as a yeomanette in the naval service early in the war and was assigned to duty at Bremerton. After her navy discharge several months ago, she entered the civil service at the Bremerton navy yard.
