Are some candidates already showing signs of apathy?
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 5 years, 3 months AGO
Here is another common sense reason for Sandpoint citizens to vote for Jacque Guinan, Shannon Mitchell for City Council and Ken Lawrence for Sandpoint mayor. They were at the forum sponsored by the Farm Bureau on Friday, Oct 25, while the other City Council candidates, couldn’t be bothered to attend to communicate with voters.
Apathy already from those that want your vote? How do you think they will respond to your needs and priority for the city if they can’t take the time to inform you of their platform and policies? Oh, yes, I heard that they had a “conflict.” What conflict? There was only one forum that evening. Or was it fundraisers from those that matter to them?
Do you think they will show up for the remaining forums on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1? Let’s stop for voting for incumbents, known names and educate yourself on the individual candidate’s goals and platforms.
Full disclosure — I live in Ponderay and can’t vote. But the current crop of “representatives” don’t seem to care about serving local business and citizens over tourists who don’t live here. The torn-up downtown is clear evidence of their priorities — “look pretty - ignore infrastructure” — such as a sewer system that has had numerous discharges into our beautiful lake with no move by the city to fix it, only talk about it.
