ROETTER: Earns vote after vetting

Candidate vetting is vitally important to obtain an accurate history for any candidate. I’ve seen it happen time and time again where a candidate makes claims that prove untrue through a thorough vetting process. Skeletons in a candidate’s past are also uncovered by implementing a formal vetting process.

I realize, unfortunately, most voters do not have the time, or the interest, to effectively vet candidates. These voters must then depend on the media and others who do invest time in vetting for information.

As a researcher, I have spoken with, and I have invested time in vetting both candidates in the Hayden City Council race between Jillian Bernstein and Matthew Roetter. Both candidates are polite and well spoken. Mr. Roetter did prove to be the right candidate for the job of city councilman. Matthew’s nearly 40 years of residency, paying property taxes and voting in Hayden give him the advantage over Jillian’s less than two years of residency, non-property owning and non-voting record status in Hayden.
