At Arlee, the Western C league leading Mountain Cats and the host Warriors traded scoring drives in the early going of the first frame as each matched the other.

But thereafter, Clark Fork unleashed multiple air and ground attacks that found the endzone with the result that a multiple dozen lead was securely wedged between the claws of the undefeated visitors as the first half drew to a close.

Arlee managed to match Clark Fork over the course of the second half, but could not carve any further into the deficit.

The final game of the season for the Warriors also marked Senior Night for Cody Tanner, Kanoa Palazzolo, Dustin Cordier, CJ Forgey, Jace Samsel and Jon Matt.

Head coach Chuck Forgey commented that it is “sad to see this senior class go. They were involved in a lot of success for this school. Their commitment and hard work will be missed.”

Last season, Arlee hosted Centerville in the first round of 2018 Western C 8-man playoffs, prevailing over the Miners 36-32. The Warriors then advanced on to the quarterfinal, where they fell to then undefeated Fairview 32-20 in the “war of the Warrior” mascots, finishing the 2018 season with an 8-3 record.

The preceding 2017 season, Arlee qualfied as the Western 3rd-seed, but fell to the Ennis Mustangs in the first round.

Pirate plaque preference Burger-larized by Bulldogs

At Smith Fields in Whitefish for the 2018 State A boys soccer championship, the Polson Pirates and the Northern A conference champion Bulldogs would put on quite a show in an energetic quest to claim the coveted state A crown last Saturday. This would be just the third foray to the championship match in the history of the Pirate boys’ soccer program, who hoped that the idiomatic expression “third time’s a charm” would play out in Polson’s favor.

The 2018-19 rendition of the Arlee Scarlets have to be rated as within the scope of a reloading phase given that the lion’s share of their offensive firepower returns along with further infusion from the transfer of Louetta Conko-Camel.
