PRIEST RIVER — Running behind great blocking from his offensive line and fullback, Senior Ty Bateman ran for 159 yards on 24 carries including two touchdowns as the Badgers defeated the Spartans at Priest River. The Badgers ran for a total of 244 yards on 48 carries including three touchdowns on their way to a 31-0 victory.
“On film, their #74 looked great. Our game plan was to run away from him. Quinn Tucker did a great job stepping up and blocking him,” BFHS coach Travis Hinthorn said. “For once this year we were the bigger, more physical team.”
Quarterback Teigan Banning completed 6 of 14 passes for 102 yards. Banning connected with Conner Callahan for a touchdown and also called his own number, audibling into a quarterback sneak for a 2-yard touchdown run. Sky Reinhardt kicked a 36 yard field goal and nearly made a 38 yarder that bounced off the crossbar. Reinhardt was 4-of-4 for extra point kicks.
“Defensively we played well. The kids were excited and it was contagious,” Hinthorn said. “I think we had a larger crowd there than they did. This win is a great way to send off our seniors and has our younger players excited about the future.
Hinthorn added he would like to thank all the seniors for their dedication and hard work.
