Cardinal women out of NWAC playoffs

SPOKANE — Maya Lewis scored on an assist from Autumn Stewart in the 19th minute for North Idaho College, but a goal by Lizzy Gonzalez in the 87th minute sent the Community Colleges of Spokane past the Cardinals and into the Northwest Athletic Conference playoffs with a 2-1 win on Wednesday at Spokane Falls Community College.
NIC, which finishes 8-6-5, 6-5-3, 21 points in conference play, needed a win over Spokane (10-6-1, 9-5, 27 points and some help to advance. Spokane needed only a win or tie to advance.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Cardinals swept the Knights 25-11, 25-16, 25-12 in Northwest Athletic Conference play.

NIC (24-3, 13-0 NWAC) — which clinced a playoff spot last weekend — hosts the Community Colleges of Spokane at Christianson Gym on Friday at 6 p.m. Spokane (29-1, 12-1) has also clinched a playoff spot with three matches remaining.
Wenatchee Valley is 2-25, 1-12.

SPOKANE — Noah Dreves scored an unassisted goal in the 58th minute as the Cardinals played to a Northwest Athletic Conference draw with the Sasquatch at Spokane Falls Community College.
Spokane (9-4-4, 6-2-4 NWAC, 22 points) finished second in the East Region, and will host an opening round game next Wednesday.
Isaiah Damschen had four saves for NIC, which finishes 5-8-4, 3-6-3.
