Deb Ruehle listens, has common sense approach to issues

Deb Ruehle was one of my physical therapists this past winter. Consequently, I had the opportunity to discuss issues with her once or twice a week for several months. I was impressed with her knowledge about city issues and her willingness to listen to different points of view.

When I asked her in April if she was going to run again, she asked, “Do you think I should?” I immediately said yes. By then I had observed first hand her common sense approach to solving problems.

This is not to say we always agree on the outcomes. Most recently we disagreed on grass versus artificial turf. I know from our conversations that she took the time to study the pros and cons about the playing surface and it was not an easy decision for her to make. But she felt she was making the right choice for the right reasons and I respect that. My issue with this resolution lays now with the larger plan for the facility and the potential impacts on the neighborhood. I am confident she will do her due diligence on that as well.

Deb and I have agreed to disagree in such instances. I find her to be a reasonable person who respects everyone. She listens. And she is willing to discuss issues with constituents in a civil manner. Her approach works to the benefit of our city.

I encourage you to vote to return Deb Ruehle to the city council on Nov. 5.
