A Florida man is dead and two women from Ronan and Polson are injured after a vehicle hit a tree on Moiese Valley Road.

The crash occurred around 5:51 p.m. Sunday.

According to a Montana Highway Patrol, a 2005 Subaru Forester driven by a 34-year-old woman from Ronan was traveling northbound on Moiese Valley Road when she lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve. She reportedly overcorrected — causing the vehicle to spin counterclockwise. The vehicle went off the road where it struck a tree before coming to a rest.

The front seat passenger, a 33-year-old man from Pompano Beach, Florida, was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt.

The driver and a second passenger, a 30-year-old from Polson, were injured and taken to St. Luke Hospital in Ronan. The women were also not wearing seat belts.

Alcohol and speed are suspected to be factors in the crash.

Names have not been released.
