POST FALLS — Oskar Hepworth scored the first goal in the history of Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy boys soccer.

Brandon King tallied the goal that gave the Panthers a victory in their debut as a program.

King corralled a deflection in the box and sent a right-footed shot past the keeper low and inside the left post in the 75th minute as Coeur d’Alene Charter beat Immaculate Conception Academy 2-1 on Tuesday at Bodine Field.

“It’s awesome, the kids were excited about it,” Charter coach Justin Nitti said. “It motivates them, shows them they can compete in league.”

Hepworth scored on a cross from Ronan Malaghan in the 31st minute. Joseph Darakjy scored just before halftime for ICA for a 1-all tie at the half.

“Our defense played tough, and we had some good speed up top (from forwards Jordan Gallegos and Dennis Klein) and got behind their defense.”

Cd’A Charter plays at Priest River on Thursday in the Panthers’ first Intermountain League match.

COEUR d’ALENE — Jake Overoye stopped six shots in goal for the Timberwolves in a 1-1 draw with the Bears at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex at Lake City High.

Noah Janzen scored on an assist from Bryce Allred in the 30th minute for Lake City (0-0-2), which also tied with Moscow 1-1 on Aug. 24 in Moscow to open the season.

Lake City hosts Sandpoint on Thursday.

ST. MARIES — Joaa Santos scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute for the Tigers in an Intermountain League win over the Lumberjacks at City Park.

“Our defense held really strong tonight,” said Timberlake coach Steve Michael, whose team beat the Lumberjacks 2-0 to open the season on Aug. 24 at Timberlake. “St. Maries is just fast, well-conditioned and well-coached.”

“It was an even match, but we had some oddities,” St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. “But they do happen from time to time. The kids played well tonight, but neither team really got a lot toward the net.”

Timberlake (3-0-1, 3-0 IML) hosts Immaculate Conception of Post Falls on Thursday.

St. Maries (1-2, 1-2) hosts Grangeville on Saturday at City Park.

MOSCOW — Maddy Lasher had a goal and assist for the Timberwolves in a nonleague win over the Bears in Lake City’s season opener at the Moscow Community Playfields.

“I was very pleased,” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “We absolutely controlled the match from start to finish. We connected on some good passes, but it also looked like a first game. But we’ll continue to get better from here.”

The teams were scheduled to open the season against each other on Aug. 24, but the match was cancelled due to low eligibility numbers for Moscow.

Lake City visits Sandpoint on Thursday at Memorial Field.

POST FALLS — Hannah Eddy scored the Bulldogs’ final five goals and added an assist in a nonleague win over the Trojans at Post Falls High.

“The girls played much better in the second half,” said Post Falls coach Steve Mills, whose team fell behind 5-0 at halftime. “I think it would have been pretty easy to just give up when you have a five-goal deficit, but they came back and defended much better, and moved the ball a lot better as well. Ashley did an amazing job for us in goal tonight.”

Post Falls (0-2) travels to Lakeland on Thursday.
