EUGENE, Ore. — The location was different, but the final score was the same.
North Idaho College pulled away with three goals in the second half and beat the Lane Titans 4-0 in nonconference play Sunday.
NIC defeated Lane by the same score two weeks ago in Tukwila, Wash.
“We played with better commitment today,” NIC coach Dan Hogan said. “We moved the ball around well and adapted to how Lane played defense. I really liked how our intensity stayed high throughout the second half.”
Maya Lewis played a hand — or more accurately, a foot — in two of the goals for NIC (2-1-2).
Her free kick early in the second half was stopped by the Lane goalkeeper, but Halley Marschall was there to score on the rebound for a 2-0 lead.
Sydney Moore made it 3-0, taking a through ball and cutting back against the defender three times before shooting the ball through the keeper’s hands.
On the Cardinals’ final goal, Lewis intercepted a pass and fed the ball to Autumn Stewart behind Lane’s back line. Stewart attacked the keeper and then slotted the ball into the net.
Lane is 0-3-0.
