Stillwater Christian edges Troy volleyball in three sets

The Troy girls volleyball team battled Stillwater to the end Friday before dropping a three-set match.

Stillwater edged the Lady Trojans, 25-22, 25-23, 25-21.

“I am so proud of the girls on my team for their hard work yesterday,” Troy head coach Jordan Graves said. “It is like night and day from last year as far as commitment, progress from the first practice of the season, and overall attitude on the team. I am so excited to see what the season has in store for us and to see the progress they will make over the next two months.”

Troy’s leading performers included:

Aces: Montana Rice 6, total 16;

Kills: Montana Rice 5, total 15;

Blocks: Ella Pierce 2, total 3;

Assists: Leah Clay 5, total 8;

Digs: Mazzy Hermes 5, total 9.

For Stillwater, it top players were:

Aces: Selah Neumann 6, total 20;

Kills: Kayla Oyler, Selah Neumann, Taylor Gray 3 each, total 17;

Blocks: Abigail Hudson 2, total 5;

Assists: Sophia Sulzbacher

Digs: Sydney McKerrow 11, total 30.
