Whether you’re in the market for a new home or just looking for great ideas on interior design, the latest home automation gadgets or impressive landscaping trends, the 2019 Parade of Homes in Kootenai County has something for everybody.
Sponsored by the North Idaho Building Contractors Association (NIBCA), this year’s event runs five days and kicks off Saturday. It features 18 distinctive homes and 12 local builders.
“It’s a great place to see what some of the area’s top builders are doing and to get ideas for remodeling and redecorating,” said NIBCA executive director Leslie Streeter.
A late summer tradition in Kootenai County, the Parade of Homes showcases the work of North Idaho’s leading builders, top architects, interior designers, landscapers, home automation specialist, kitchen and bath designers, and suppliers of building products.
“It offers the general public a first-hand look at the current trends and greatest innovations in new home design,” Streeter said.
The booming local housing market and escalating home prices should not be a deterrent to prospective home buyers, according to Streeter.
“There are homes for people just starting out or even looking to downsize — we’ve even got a townhouse in the lineup this year,” she said. “We try to have a variety of price ranges covered so wherever you are in your life of homebuying process, we have it covered.”
Home prices range from the mid-$200,000s to million-dollar-plus.
There are three homes in Rathdrum, four in Post Falls, five in Hayden and six in Coeur d’Alene.
Parade of Homes tickets are $10 per person and are good for all five days. They can be purchased at the first home visited or by downloading the app ParadeCraze. The phone app provides directions and details for each featured home, as well as photos.
Streeter said the Parade of Homes is an important event that gives NIBCA the resources needed to support its mission of protecting and promoting the building industry for the benefit of its members and citizens of North Idaho.
