Joe Kuberka wasn’t initially sure what kind of response the annual Polson Fly-In would generate.

Inclement weather Saturday made Kuberka, the chapter president of Blue Goose Aviation, initially apprehensive about the turnout of the event.

In spite of the weather, it proved to matter not, as there were still more than 20 fly-ins from all over the region and country, to attend the breakfast.

A portion of the proceeds from the fly-in benefited creating a more significant aviation scene, something Kuberka and Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) hope to do regularly. The event is sponsored by Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1122 in Polson not Blue Goose Aviation as you reported. All the work done for the fly in is by the EAA Chapter members and community volunteers.

“With the weather, we had a better turnout of over 40 last year, and I didn’t know if we’re going to have anyone be able to come in,”Kubera said. “We had people from all over the country, and the area fly-in from Kalispell, Missoula, Billings and even the Idaho area. They even came from Sandpoint, Spokane, Billings.”

The fly-in generated a total of 32 Mission Valley-wide sponsors for the event.

“A lot of money that we raise we try to work with the kids in the community to build an interest in aviation,”Kuberka said.

The aviation community in the Mission Valley contiues to expand.
