Sally Marie (Peterson) Deason
Sally Marie (Peterson) Deason went to heaven to be with her beloved parents and relatives on Aug. 31, 2019, in Arlington, Wash., after a short battle with cancer.
As a people person at her core, Sally enjoyed being around others, especially her family. She grew up on a small farm, west of Post Falls, and loved the freedom and joy of a simple life. She enjoyed her high school years and graduated from Post Falls High School in 1979, along with her many friends, and attended the University of Idaho for a short time. She enjoyed her work as a waitress in her young adult years, and she met her future husband as he stopped often at Templin’s, in Post Falls, on his various business trips.
Sally and Mike Deason were married on Valentine’s Day, 1988. They later divorced, but from that union came Sally’s treasures—her sons, Adam and Sam, whom she loved very much.
Cherished moments included bringing her boys back to the farm so they could do many of the things she did and enjoyed as a child, and so the boys had lots of time to get to know their Gramma and Pop Peterson.
As the boys grew older, they made many trips to Silverwood, where they all had lots of fun times. Sal loved theme parks and could never get her fill of them. She also loved the North Idaho Fair, and went as often as she could, taking her boys and her dad with her. A fairly recent special time for her was accompanying son, Sam, to a weightlifting competition in Atlanta. The two had a happy and memorable time there.
Sally loved to read, work in her beautiful flower and fairy garden and embroider. She made many beautiful items for family and friends.
She enjoyed holidays in general, but loved Christmas especially, and loved getting her house and porch decorated early, so that she had lots of time to enjoy the beauty of the season.
Sal remained a kid at heart. She sang old songs, loved old television shows and DVDs, enjoyed playing cribbage, pinochle and Yahtzee and enjoyed reminiscing with her high school friends about the “old days.”
Sally’s parents, Peggy and Joe Peterson and her nephew, James Peterson, all of Post Falls, predeceased her. Her sons survive her as do her sisters, Valorie Godwin and her husband, Greg, and their three children: Seth, John and Amy and their families; Laurie Nichols and her husband, Scott, and their two: children, Bryan and Gina; and brother, Bill (Pete) Peterson and his wife, Cindy, and son, Joe.
The family extends many thanks to Char and Chelsea, who helped Sally so much. When you think of Sally, celebrate the good memories you made with her. Please keep in mind that life is fragile and short, and that it should be lived to the fullest each day.
