Knudson shines for Cards in second-place finish at Spokane tourney

SPOKANE — Lake City High product Chloe Knudson had 18 kills and 16 digs for North Idaho College, which lost 25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 26-24 to the Community Colleges of Spokane in the championship match of the Spokane Classic at Spokane Falls Community College on Saturday.
Post Falls High product Tessa Sarff had 10 kills and six blocks, Journey Tupea six kills and 13 digs and Kynzey Mitzel 13 digs for NIC against Spokane.
Earlier, Tupea had 21 kills and 17 digs for the Cardinals in a 25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-5 win over Lower Columbia to finish pool play 3-0. Knudson and Hannah McPhetridge had 14 kills each, Sarff nine kills for NIC (12-3), which resumes Northwest Athletic Conference play at Columbia Basin College in Pasco on Wednesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Corynn Vigil scored two goals less than six minutes apart for the Yaks in a Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Cardinals at Eisenwinter Field.
Maya Lewis scored an unassisted goal in the 81st minute for NIC (3-2-2, 1-1 NWAC), which travels to Blue Mountain of Pendleton, Ore., on Friday.
Yakima Valley is 6-1, 2-0.
