A home west of Kalispell was destroyed in a fire Thursday afternoon.

The blaze on Stonecrest Drive was called in at about 3:30 p.m. The home was fully engulfed in flames by the time crews from West Valley and Smith Valley fire departments arrived on scene.

Initial reports indicate that everyone inside the home escaped safely.

A plume of black smoke could be seen from across town. Crews were still on the scene at 5 p.m.
