Glacier golfers keep Crosstown Cup

For the fifth straight year, the Crosstown Cup belongs to Glacier High School.
Glacier beat Flathead 27-9.
Glacier has won the tournament each year of its existence. This year the tournament took place at Village Greens Golf Club in Kalispell.
Play was moved up a day to Thursday because of a snowstorm expected to hit Northwest Montana this weekend.
Golfers played head to head and the atmosphere was one of collegiality and lighthearted competition.
“There was a lot of give and take and exchange between the players,” Glacier golf coach Jim Schaible said. “It was good to observe as a coach.”
The competition began Wednesday with a two-person best ball competition.
More in depth scores were not kept due to the informality of the event. There were 18 points to be had on each day and teams are totaled together. Glacier boys swept the Flathead boys and the girls team won all the rest of the available points.
“[Flathead golfers] Marcella Mercer and Jillian Wynne played very well,” Schaible said. “The Flathead girls put a big struggle on us and they won more matches than they have in the past.”
Wynne and Mercer accounted for all nine of Flathead’s points.
