PASCO, Wash. — Noah Dreves scored on an assist from Sandpoint High product Mac Stultz in the 35th minute for the Cardinals, who fell to the Hawks in Northwest Athletic Conference play.
Juan Mendoza scored two goals for Columbia Basin (5-3-2, 3-2-1 NWAC).
“There was just some unusual bounces that led to their first two goals,” NIC coach Ken Thompson said. “We made some changes, and started to play quite a bit better and created some good chances. We put one away and started to play well and then after the half they put another one away.”
There were four yellow cards in the match, with Stultz and Shane Watkins receiving red cards for NIC. Neither Stultz or Watkins will be available next Saturday when NIC (4-4-2, 2-2-1 NWAC) hosts the Community Colleges of Spokane at 2:15 p.m. at Eisenwinter Field.
“We’ve got a week to prepare and get ready for that,” Thompson said.
