ANNIVERSARIES

Dick and Judy Gardner

60th Anniversary

Dick and Judy Gardner are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 19, 1959.

Dick and Judy met in San Jose, Calif., in September 1957. Dick was in the Navy and was stationed at Moffitt Field in Mt. View. Judy was a student at San Jose State College.

They were introduced to each other by Judy’s older sister, Carlyne.

They lived in Southern California until December 2002 when they were finally able to move to Coeur d’Alene, the area they fell in love with in 1976 when they camped at the old KOA on Wolf Lodge Bay.

Dick was in sales and owned his own business for five years and then worked for McCormick Spices for 21 years. His last 10 years of work before retirement was for Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company.

Judy worked in the insurance industry — mostly for independent agents. She started in personal lines and then moved into being a commercial account executive. She worked for five years with the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company as a commercial account underwriter.

This past July, they had a family gathering to celebrate Judy’s 80th birthday and their 60th anniversary.

Their oldest daughter, Debbie (Mayer) and her husband Gregg and two children, Travis and Jessica, came from Northern California. Son David and his wife, Carolyn and daughter Julie, came from Charleston, S.C. David’s son and family were unable to attend. Their youngest child, Beth (Franchi) and her husband, Jack, came from Pitman, N.J. None of the five Franchi children were able to attend.

Judy’s sister, Carlyne Sims, also her maid of honor, came from Washington with her two daughters, Liisa Wright and Jennifer Kilgore. Jennifer’s daughter, Brittany, was also present. Signe and John MacRae, Judy’s younger sister and husband, came from Quarryville, Pa. Suzi and Sam Wong, cousins, also joined in the celebration.

Mark and Linda Blackstone

50th Anniversary

Mark Blackstone and Linda Nakonieczny were married on Aug. 23, 1969, at the Chapel of the Bells in Reno, Nev.

They moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1974, where they raised their two children, Ronda and Roger.

Mark retired from the longtime family business of Walt’s lock and key, and Linda retired from medical clerical work.

They enjoyed a celebration party with family and friends on Aug. 25, 2019. They continued to reside in Coeur d’Alene enjoying retirement, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
