MOSES LAKE — The speed limit along a section of Stratford Road has been reduced from 50 mph to 45 mph. The change affects the section from the Stratford Road-Harris Road Northeast intersection to Stratford’s intersection with Tyndall Road Northeast, a distance of about two and a half miles.

Grant County commissioners approved the change Tuesday. It went into effect immediately, but drivers won’t be ticketed until new speed limit signs are installed.

The speed limit also was reduced along Road 7 Northeast from its intersection with Stratford Road to its intersection with Road I Northeast, about one-half mile. The limit was reduced from 50 mph to 35 mph. Drivers won’t be ticketed until new speed limit signs are installed. Interim public works director Sam Dart said the new signs should be installed by the end of the week.

That section of Road 7 Northeast is the approach to the transfer station operated by Consolidated Disposal, and it is also an access road to Grant County International Airport. Dart said county officials were concerned about the number of accidents along that stretch of road, especially at the Road 7 NE-Stratford Road intersection.
