While many wish that COVID-19 were already a thing of the past, the total of positive cases coming in is rising.

Over the past week, the number of cases in Grant County jumped from 63 as of Monday, March 30, to 90 as of Monday, April 6. On April 3, Confluence Health notified Unified Command, the name given to the task force in Grant County consisting primarily of the Grant County Emergency Command and the Grant County Health District, that a male in his 60s from Moses Lake had passed away. It was the second death from COVID-19 in Grant County.

The number of confirmed cases in Royal City went from one to five. Warden had a rise from one to four cases. Mattawa’s numbers almost doubled from nine to 17 cases.

Around the county, the Quincy area had five new cases bringing the total to 38. Ephrata rose from seven to 10 cases. Moses Lake went from nine to 15 confirmed cases. Soap Lake stayed the same with one case. Of the 90 cases in Grant County, 52 were female and 38 male.

There were 215 tests pending results. There have been 744 negative test results in Grant County, and 14 individuals who were confirmed cases have recovered.

Adams County had two days, April 2 and 3, with no new COVID-19 cases. But that didn’t stop the number from more than doubling during the week. On Monday, April 6, Adams County reported 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19. That is up from 13 cases on Monday, March 30.

Othello has 25 out of the 29 cases. Eleven of the cases are connected to one family. Lind and Ritzville have two cases each.

Adams County has sent out 175 total tests; 111 of those tests have come back negative.

Of the confirmed cases, 12 are male and 17 are female. One individual is 19 years or younger. Seven individuals aged 20 to 39 have tested positive. In the 40 to 59 age range, 12 people have tested positive. Eight individuals age 60 to 79 have tested positive.

One Adams County individual is hospitalized, and seven people who were confirmed cases have recovered.
