OTHELLO — The Othello Police Department seized narcotics with a street value of about $180,000 on Saturday, March 28, after serving a warrant in the 200 block of East Cedar Street. Officers seized approximately 5 kilograms of methamphetamine, approximately 840 suspected opiate pills, 25 grams of heroin and two firearms.
“I’ve been here six years. This is the largest drug bust that our officers have completed in that time,” Othello Police Chief Phil Schenck said.
Officers arrested 68-year-old Jose Sierra-Carriero early that morning on possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and weapons offenses. Sierra-Carriero was placed in Adams County Jail.
Schenck said last week that he wasn’t certain whether the suspect apprehended had any prior convictions but said police had involvements with Sierra-Carriero prior to the arrest.
