Viking basketball standout Colt Thorness will be taking the court for the University of Providence next season, the Argos announced Monday.

The 6’7 forward averaged 13 points, eight rebounds and six blocks per game in his senior season while leading Bigfork to the divisional tournament. Thorness recorded 10 blocks or more in several games as a senior after helping lead the Vikings to state titles in 2018 and 2019.

“Colt has a huge upside,” head Argos coach Steve Keller said in a press release. “He is 6’7, very long, and athletic. He has great hands, runs the floor well, and is a shot blocker. He is a two-time state champion and knows how to win. His best basketball is ahead of him and we look forward to helping him reach his potential.”

Thorness, who plans to major in business, will join an Argos team that went 23-7 in the shortened 2019-20 season, including going 11-7 to finish third in the Frontier Conference.
