A Lake County Sheriff’s deputy was found dead in his home at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

The deputy was identified as Ross Holcomb, 32, of Ronan, according to Lake County Sheriff Donald Bell in a press release issued Sunday. Missoula County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death. Bell stated the preliminary investigation indicates suicide.

Ross served the Lake County Sheriff’s Office since June of 2017. He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

No other information was released.

“We want to thank the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office and all other agencies who have been assisting us during this incredibly difficult time,” Bell said.

On Monday, a procession of law enforcement and first-responder vehicles made its way through the Mission Valley in honor of Holcomb.
