GRANT COUNTY - There were 110 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Grant County as of Friday afternoon, with nine new cases reported since yesterday, tied with March 29 for the largest single-day increase since the county’s first case was reported in early March.

There were three new cases in the Quincy area, two new cases each in Ephrata and the Mattawa area, and one new cases each in Moses Lake and Soap Lake, reported Unified Command, a joint task force of the county’s health district and sheriff’s office, in an afternoon briefing Friday.

Of the nine new cases, three were male and six were female, one was between the ages 0-18, four were age 19-40, three were age 41-60, and one was age 61-80, according to the health district. There are also 14 “probable” cases as of Thursday evening, which includes people with symptoms of the virus who have had close contact with a person known to have been sickened with COVID-19.

Six people sickened with the novel coronavirus are currently hospitalized, with now several people having recovered from their previous hospitalization. Twenty-eight people have recovered enough to no longer be placed under quarantine, Unified Command reported Friday, double what was reported Monday.

Quincy remains the epicenter of the outbreak in the county, with 44 confirmed cases total. The Mattawa area is reporting 21 confirmed cases, while Moses Lake has 19 confirmed cases, according to Unified Command.

Ephrata is reporting twelve confirmed cases, Royal City is reporting five, Warden and Soap Lake are each reporting four, and the Grant County portion of the Othello area is reporting a single case. To date, there are no confirmed cases in the Grand Coulee/Electric City or Coulee City areas, according to the Grand County Health District.

In addition to tests that have come back positive, 942 have come back negative. There are an estimated 177 tests that are still pending results, according to the Unified Command.
