May 21, 1996 – April 6, 2020

On April 6, 2020, Shane Patrick Phillips of Moses Lake, Washington, tragically passed away at the young age of 23.

Shane was born May 21, 1996, to Patrick Phillips and Cindy Essex.

From early childhood, Shane had a passion for all things outdoors. Well, except bugs, he hated those. His favorite hobbies growing up were riding four-wheelers, hunting and fishing, shooting his BB gun, building forts and playing in the mud. As Shane grew into an adult he brought most of his childhood pastimes with him, and acquired even more. Shane worked installing garage doors for his family business, with the dream of someday taking ownership with his brother, Eric. When Shane wasn’t working at the job he loved, he could be found fishing, hunting, hiking, camping or cruising back roads with the boys and his beloved dog, Rooster. Shane was the most independent person you’d ever meet. He never counted on anyone for help, yet he had a love for helping others. Shane truly had an enormous heart and a temper just as big. He was an easy-going guy, so it took a Peterbilt to pull his temper out. Those characteristics made him the best friend anyone could ask for.

Shane is preceded in death by his mom Cindy Essex, his uncle Jeffery Essex, and his grandparents Floyd and Dorothy Phillips. He is survived by his siblings Eric Strong, Makenzie Cafferty, Cody Cannon, Tanya Phillips and Bradley Phillips; his dad and stepmom Patrick and Kristie Phillips; his grandparents Earle and Judy Essex; his best friend Cyrus Knoll; his dog Rooster; many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and the best friends a guy could ask for.

There is a Celebration of Life tentatively planned on Shane’s birthday, May 21, 2020, with more details to come.
