Flathead, Toole Counties announce additional COVID-19 fatalities

Health department officials announced the second coronavirus-related fatality in Flathead County and sixth in Toole County early Wednesday morning.

According to a press release from the Flathead City-County Health Department, the Flathead County resident was over the age of 65 and had underlying health conditions. Out of respect for the family, the health department released no further details on the individual.

The first Flathead County fatality was announced on April 13 and according to health officials, that individual was also over the age of 65 and had underlying health conditions. Flathead County has not seen a new confirmed positive since April 14.

In a separate press release from the Toole County Health Department, officials announced the area's sixth death was that of a male aged 70 to 79.

As of Wednesday morning, there were six active cases in Toole County, all of which consist of “close contact transmission within local congregate settings,” according to the press release. All close contacts with these cases have been placed on quarantine and are only released when they meet recommended protocols from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As of Wednesday morning, Montana had 439 total confirmed cases of the virus, according to data from the coronavirus task force. Of these, 14 have resulted in fatalities, 296 have recovered and there are 13 active hospitalizations.
