Quincy Democrat Eduardo Castañeda-Díaz recently announced his upcoming bid for the state legislature, running for the seat currently held by longtime incumbent Rep. Tom Dent.

In a press release, the candidate’s campaign stated that he believes that the district’s current representation does not reflect the values and people of the district.

The son of immigrants, Castañeda-Díaz is a veteran of the U.S. Army and Washington, California and Idaho Army National Guards, as well as a graduate of Washington State University, the press release stated.

The primary election will be on Aug. 4.
