About 1,500 masks and $16,000 later, Cancer and Community Charities is distributing the wealth.

The members of the Kootenai County nonprofit 3Cs have worked nonstop to sew handmade face masks for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 20 members have been contributing to the cause for about a month.

3Cs is donating all proceeds to local food assistance programs including food banks and Meals on Wheels programs, which deliver prepared meals to homebound seniors.

Rathdrum Food Bank manager Sharon Dillon said the 3Cs has always been a generous contributor to her food bank, which serves up to 150 families each month.

“We were extremely blessed and gracious and we thank them for their donation,” Dillon said.
