COVID-19 cases remain flat in county

SANDPOINT — Two new novel coronavirus cases turned up in Kootenai County, the Panhandle Health District said on Monday.

The new cases bring Kootenai County’s total case count to 61. Bonner County still has four cases, the health district said.

The virus, which causes COVID-19, has not been detected in Boundary, Shoshone or Benewah counties, according to PHD.

The health district said 39 people in the Panhandle are no longer being monitored.

Broken down by age, 30 of the infected residents are between the ages of 19-49 and 26 residents are over the age of 50. Nine infected residents are 18 years old or younger.

Broken down by gender, 38 are male and 27 are female, according to Panhandle Health.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare said 20 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus, pushing the statewide total to 1,917 cases. The disease is blamed for 58 deaths across the state.

The virus has caused 172 hospitalizations and 73 admissions to intensive-care units. It has also infected 239 Idaho healthcare workers, according to Health & Welfare.

The Northeast Tri-County Health District in Washington state said there nine cases in Stevens County and two cases in Pend Oreille County. There is one case in Ferry County, bringing the regional case total to 12. The virus caused one fatality in Stevens County, according to NETCHD.

Montana public health officials said on Monday there are 449 confirmed cases in the Big Sky state, with seven cases in Lincoln County and none in Sanders County.
