GOVERNMENT: Needs more Christianity

Wednesday’s newspaper had mostly conservative letters to the editor. Mike Hill, Thomas Lawrence and Kent Setty, plus an article by Dr. Fichter (page C10) explained the fallacy of wearing masks to combat COVID-19. The magnification of this disease is by liberal politicians and policy leaders aided by the liberal media (Democrats) who hate America.

America was founded by Christians. There have always been atheists like Thomas Paine, but none helped write our founding documents. Both Franklin and Jefferson, icons of liberals, promoted Bibles in public schools and prayer in government meetings.

All of the Founders agreed with John Adams: “Religion [Christianity] and virtue are the only foundations…of all free government.” The Northwest Ordinance says, “Religion, Morality, and Knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.” Idaho required daily Bible reading until 1963.

Religion is the foundation from which morality springs. These produce freedom and the republican form of government.

John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” If people are not inwardly moral, laws (including the Constitution) are waste paper. American society is now a demonstration of lawlessness and rioting in the cities.”

Liberals rewrite history destroying statues and deleting Christian evidences of history. One example is reducing Toqueville’s two-volume Democracy In America to one small volume by deleting all religious references.

What can we do? Return to our foundation of Christianity. Support leaders with a biblical worldview.
