MOSES LAKE — Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Sunnyside, stopped in Moses Lake on Monday to visit the newly opened headquarters of the Grant County Republican Party, located in the heart of downtown.

The congressman has in the past biennium sponsored over 100 bills, spanning topics such as water infrastructure and natural resources and agriculture, and recently the Local Journalism Sustainability Act, which would provide tax credits to media publications that primarily produce local news content. He was first elected to serve the 4th Congressional District in 2014.

Newhouse’s visit was just a day before the Aug. 4 primary election, in which he is competing with fellow Republicans Sarena Sloot and Tracy Wright, independent Evan Jones, Libertarian Ryan Cooper and Democrat Doug McKinley. Newhouse also made a stop Monday at the Yakima County Republican headquarters in Yakima.

Ballot boxes are open until 8 p.m. today.
