WARDEN — An Othello man involved in a two-vehicle collision near Warden on July 22 has died in a hospital, according to Washington State Patrol.

On July 22, Jose Chama Erivas, 51, was driving southbound on state Route 17 near Road 6 Southeast in a 1993 Nissan truck, according to law enforcement, when the vehicle crossed the center line. Jacob Vooge, 29, of Pasco, was driving northbound in a 2007 Kenworth semi and swerved in an attempt to avoid the Nissan, according to law enforcement, but Erivas’ vehicle struck the side of Vooge’s vehicle.

Erivas was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead on Aug. 4.

Vooge was not injured in the collision. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
