SANDPOINT — A preliminary hearing is set for a Bonner County woman accused of accidentally striking and killing her husband on July 31.

Frythe Kathleen Peine is charged with vehicular manslaughter at the felony level. She is free on an $80,000 surety bond while the case is pending. A hearing to determine whether she should stand trial in 1st District Court is scheduled for Aug. 12.

Peine, 47, is accused of running her husband down on Lakeshore Drive near Greenwood Hill Drive with her Mercedes GLK350 sport utility vehicle following an argument inside the vehicle. The couple, according to an Idaho State Police report, had been drinking in a bar in Sagle prior to the altercation.

Kraig P. Peine exited the SUV during the argument and walked westbound on the county road before being struck, according to court documents. Frythe Peine rated her level of intoxication as a five on a 10-scale, the police report said. She told police she may have looking at her phone at the time the collision, the report said.
