Veterans Memorial Softball Classic gets green light

Subject to modification of its format with the ever changing landscape of pandemic precautions in mind, the Seventh Annual Veterans Memorial Classic got the green light to be played in Belgrade the weekend of Aug. 7-8.
Postseason accolade accentuated players from all classifications have been invited, drawing from those who would have played had the season not been cancelled, further infused by others nominated by coaches.
Area players will have a quartet representing the Mission Valley. All-state, twice all-conference Josie Caye of the Polson Lady Pirates will inject the roster of the Army with her firepower at the plate. The Air Force will feature Shyanne Reum of Mission-Arlee-Charlo along with Grace Hardy of Sentinel. Hardy is the daughter of a pair of Charlo graduates.
Lending their support to the Marines roster will be all-staters Macao Jackson of Ronan and Azia-Rain Umphrey of Mission-Arlee-Charlo. Umphrey will extend here softball career at the collegiate level for the University of Providence starting this fall.
