Idaho football pushed back the start of its fall camp a week, the school announced on Thursday.

A reported announcement expected today could make that a mute point.

According to several media outlets, the Big Sky Conference will announce that the 2020 football season will be postponed, and pushed to the spring of 2021.

The announcement comes on the heels of Tuesday’s report that stated that 75% of Idaho’s roster intended to sit out the season if games were played in the fall.

On Sept. 12, Eastern Washington is scheduled to open the season at home against Western Illinois, while Idaho visits Temple.

The Big Sky announced on July 24 that the first day of practices for traditional fall sports of soccer, volleyball and cross country, as well as the non-championship seasons for men’s and women’s tennis and softball could begin on Friday, Sept. 18. Golf could begin to play on Monday, Sept. 14. No announcement was made on how the football decision could affect those programs.

Eastern Washington was scheduled to begin its fall camp today in Cheney.

Wednesday, the NCAA Board of Governors set parameters for each division to make its own call.

Within hours of the board’s announcement, presidents councils from both Division II and III canceled fall sports championships and determined they will not be made up in the spring.

The Pioneer League, with most teams based in the midwest with the exception of San Diego, announced it will not play non-conference games or begin play before Sept. 26.
