SANDPOINT — The Panhandle Health District reported 52 new novel coronavirus cases on Friday, including two new infections in Bonner County.

The health district said there have been 2,127 total cases of the virus, 2,111 of which are confirmed through laboratory analysis. On Friday, 807 of the cases were active.

Kootenai County has had 1,755 cases over the course of the pandemic, 1,745 of which are lab-confirmed. Forty new cases were reported in Kootenai County and 645 of the cases are active.

The virus is blamed for 16 deaths in Kootenai County and two deaths in Shoshone County.

Bonner County’s two new cases bring its total to 177 cases, 171 of which are lab-confirmed. Bonner County has 65 active cases, according to PHD.

Shoshone County saw eight new cases emerge on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in that county to 87. The district said 79 of those cases are lab-confirmed and 49 are deemed active.

All of Benewah County’s 54 cases are lab-confirmed, including two new infections on Friday. Nineteen of the cases in Benewah County are active, PHD said.

Boundary County has accrued 37 cases, 24 of which are active, according to PHD.

There have been 18 cases involving people whose primary county of residency was undetermined. Seventeen of those cases are lab-confirmed and five are active, the health district said.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare reported 523 new cases on Friday, bringing the statewide total of confirmed or probable cases to 23,922. The state attributes 229 deaths to the virus.

The Northeast Tri-County Health District in Washington state said there were 10 new cases, nine of which were in Stevens County and one of which was in Ferry County. The new confirmed cases bring the regional total to 166 cases.

Stevens County has 106 cases, while Pend Oreille County has 38. Ferry County has 22 and one fatality, according to NETCHD. Pend Oreille and Ferry counties have each picked up 12 new cases in the last two weeks, while Ferry County has added 51 cases during that time frame. All told, there have been 75 new cases in the last 14 days in the tri-county area.

The Montana State Department of Public Health said there were 155 new cases on Friday, lifting the statewide total of confirmed cases to 4,757 and 70 deaths.

Lincoln County has 15 cases, while Sanders County has none, the state said.
