No new cases of COVID-19 in Bonner County

SANDPOINT — No new confirmed or probable cases of novel coronavirus emerged in Bonner County on Thursday, but 55 new cases were added in four other northern Idaho counties, according to the Panhandle Health District.

There have been 2,404 cases in the five northern counties since the pandemic began. The district said 2,385 of the cases are confirmed through laboratory analysis. Panhandle Health said 1,530 cases are closed, meaning a resident is no longer being monitored, has refused monitoring or has died.

The virus has caused 137 hospitalizations since the outbreak began and 25 people are currently hospitalized, according to PHD. The virus, which causes COVID-19, is blamed for 24 deaths in the Panhandle.

Bonner County has accumulated 198 cases, 183 of which are lab-confirmed and 58 of which remain active, the district said.

Kootenai County added 24 new cases on Thursday, bringing that county’s total to 1,929. The district said 1,916 of the cases are lab confirmed and 655 are deemed active. The virus has caused 24 deaths in Kootenai County, PHD said.

Boundary County added one new case on Thursday. Each of that county’s 39 cases are lab-confirmed and 22 cases remain active, according to PHD.

Shoshone County saw 29 new cases, bringing the county’s total to 158 cases, all which are lab confirmed. The district said 105 cases are active and the virus has claimed three lives in Shoshone County.

Benewah County added three new cases on Thursday, bumping the case total to 70, all of which are lab confirmed. The virus has caused one death in Benewah County, the district said.

The number of cases involving people whose primary county of residency fell by two, lowering the total number of cases to 19, each of which are lab-confirmed. Six of the cases remain active, PHD said.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare reported that there were 498 new probable or confirmed cases on Thursday, elevating the statewide total to 26,631. Health & Welfare said 251 Idahoans have died because of the virus.

The Northeast Tri-County Health District in Washington state said one new case was added in Pend Oreille County on Thursday. There are 181 confirmed cases of the virus in the tri-county area, the district said. Pend Oreille County has 46 confirmed cases, while Stevens County has 111 confirmed cases and one fatality. Ferry County has 24 cases, according to NETCHD.

The Montana State Department of Public Health reported 142 new confirmed cases, bringing the statewide total to 5,407 and 81 deaths. The number of cases in Lincoln County fell from 12 to nine on Thursday. Sanders County has two cases, according to the state.
