Alice “Kay” Berry, 82, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at the Lakeview Funeral Home.

Kay was born on September 10, 1937, in Kalispell, Montana, to Oscar and Jessie Haines. She grew up and attended schools in Priest River, Idaho, and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1955.

She attended Whitworth nursing school and worked at Deaconess Hospital. She moved to Los Angeles and worked at Queen of Angels Hospital and Cedar Sinai Hospital. She also provided private care for Catherine Hixon, who owned Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel, where she met many movie stars.

Kay married Clifford Berry on July 16, 1969, in Sandpoint. Kay was always a hard worker and loved nursing. Here she worked at Bonner General Health and for Dr. Marienau. She also served as administrator of the Oddfellows Home.

After retirement she worked for Michi-gan Green-house and Lite-house Dressing.

Kay was one of the first licensed paramedics in town. She enjoyed camping, dancing, gardening, crocheting, and knitting stocking caps for the Spokane hospitals.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Carol Jean) Berry of Newport, Wash., and Bill Eicher of Sandpoint, Idaho; two daughters, Lynne (Del) Thompson of Sandpoint and Kim (Mike) Bigsby of Springdale, Washington; and eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Cliff Berry.
