The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred at a party early Sunday morning in St. Ignatius.

According to Sheriff Don Bell, Christopher Brooks, 21, of Ronan, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and marijuana possession. His bond was set at $100,000 in Lake County Justice Court.

In a press release, Bell said at about 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, Lake County deputies and Flathead Tribal Police responded to a report of a man shooting at people in the St. Mary’s Lake Road area of St. Ignatius.

The investigation revealed there had been a party and some sort of disagreement arose during it.

Brooks and another person left the party, but then returned and Brooks allegedly opened fire upon the group. No one was hit with bullets, but at least one vehicle sustained damage.
