Sandpoint comes in at No. 19 in final MaxPreps rankings

SANDPOINT — MaxPreps released its final statewide football rankings for the 2020 season on Tuesday and Sandpoint came in at No. 19 on the list.
The Bulldogs had a storybook season that ended with a loss to 4A state champion Skyline in the semifinals. The team started 1-4, but went on a four-game winning streak down the stretch to finish with a 5-5 record.
SHS was ranked three spots ahead of Inland Empire League rival Moscow, who the Bulldogs beat twice this fall. Lakeland earned 37th on the list and Skyline was ranked No. 5.
In the final 4A rankings, Sandpoint claimed No. 7 in the state.

A win was within reach for Sandpoint boys basketball late in the third quarter of Tuesday's game, but a 12-2 run by St. Maries dashed those hopes.
