Courtesy photo The North Idaho Cross Country team (NIXC) is preparing to compete against elite runners from across the country — at the National AAU Championship in Tallahassee, Fla. on Saturday, and the USATF National Junior Olympic Championship in Lexington, Ky., on Dec 12-13. Twenty North Idaho athletes ages 9-14 will compete in one or both races. "AAU and USATF have done a great job implementing staggered races, masked starts, and spectator limitations to make this low-risk sport the safest it can be. Thorns North Girls 03/04 Red: The Thorns started friendly match play at Real Life Fields in Post Falls on Nov. 8, falling 1-0 to theThree Rivers SC Girls 02/03 squad.
On Nov. 19, the Thorns beat the Spokane Sounders G03 Rave 2-0, with goals scored by Piper Frank and Claire Romero, and assists by Olivia Wyatt and Reagan Cherry. Hailey Jo Parks had the shutout in goal.
In a busy week, the Thorns hosted the Spokane Sounders G04 Shale on Nov. 21, losing 1-0. The next day the Thorns played the WE G02-G04 Robles squad to a scoreless draw. Hailey Jo Parks had the shutout in goal for the Thorns.
