RATHDRUM — A man could face up to 10 years in prison after he was arrested for what police said was his eighth DUI violation.

Zachery T. Nosworthy, 34, of Rathdrum, is charged with driving under the influence, a felony. Judge Mayli Walsh ordered Monday that Nosworthy be held on $500,000 bail.

Police responded Saturday to a report that a truck was straddling the center line of Interstate 90 and drifting into oncoming traffic.

After police located the truck and attempted to pull it over, the driver, identified as Nosworthy, reportedly pulled into the driveway of a Rathdrum home where he did not reside.

He then allegedly exited the truck and climbed over a fence, into the backyard.

Police received permission from the homeowner to cut through the house and into the yard, according to court documents.

Nosworthy was allegedly attempting to hide under a shed when police entered the yard. An officer pulled him from under the shed and detained him in handcuffs, according to court documents.

Nosworthy allegedly refused to provide a breath sample, so police obtained a search warrant for his blood, which was sent off for testing. In Idaho, a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or more is considered legally impaired.

Police arrested Nosworthy at the scene. It was reportedly the eighth time he has been arrested for driving under the influence.

He has four previous DUI convictions, which occurred in March and April 2015, October 2017 and May 2020.

In Idaho, a third DUI conviction within 10 years is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
