Police arrested a man this week who failed to appear in court after allegedly battering his girlfriend.

Kevin D. Tysinger, 42, of Post Falls, is charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

The charge stems from Feb. 29, when police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a Coeur d’Alene motel. A woman who identified herself as Tysinger’s girlfriend said Tysinger grabbed her wrist during an argument and threw her to the ground, according to court documents.

Police said a witness reported hearing a woman inside the motel room scream, “Don’t hit me.”

The victim told police Tysinger was arrested three months prior to the incident for holding her against her will, but the charges were dropped, according to court documents.

When questioned, Tysinger allegedly told police that he and the woman argued but denied touching her.

Police cited Tysinger for domestic battery and released him.

After Tysinger failed to appear in court on March 29, a judge issued a warrant for his arrest. Police arrested him on Wednesday.

Judge John Cafferty ordered Thursday that Tysinger be held on $10,000 bail and issued a no contact order between Tysinger and the woman.

Tysinger said in court Thursday that he was convicted of a domestic violence charge in North Carolina in 2002.

He was previously charged with misdemeanor domestic battery in Kootenai County in 2017. The charges were dropped because the victim could not be located, according to court documents.

He was also charged with domestic battery in Latah County in 2018. The charges were dismissed and Tysinger instead pleaded guilty to driving without privileges, a misdemeanor.
